The Release Manager needs to be able to collaborate at both a high-level to ensure the requirements scope are strategically aligned and at an extremely detailed level to ensure that the solutions work practically and integrate correctly with the various business services, Systems and processes.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders at both a High level and detailed level.
  • Facilitate agreed solutions and ensure the solutions meet the business requirement with minimal impact to the stability of the Systems.
  • Determine the business solution is based on the requirements in conjunction with the Business, System and Business analyst counter-parts.
  • Ensuring that solutions are viable end-to-end and take into account the business objectives and benefits, alignment with the System roadmap as well as client impact.
  • The end to end management of the planning, negotiating and controlling of all aspects of projects or programmes for a Release ensuring the successful implementation of business projects to realise the business cluster strategy.

  • Document, plan and manage the release calendar and communicate with the stakeholders taking into account key Compliance and ME programme deliverables aligned with the GT Release calendar.
  • Review and comment wrt to the system analysis/design together with the System Manager/System specialist.

Channel and System knowledge to ensure resolution of issues, defects and queries.

  • Facilitate Role Access profiles where required.
  • Ensure business solutions are aligned to architecture and business roadmaps
  • Give input and review business cases and provide approval thereof.
  • Align to the architecture and governance principles. (Align with the Centre of Excellence).
  • Manage the releases and governance principles.
  • MIS and reporting on the delivery within each release, business value of the initiatives landed, cost of the releases, lessons learnt etc
  • Set up and manage the various Release macros meetings and document the minutes and actions.
  • Work closely with the various ME and BAU Innovation System Managers and Specialist

Providing approval of the test strategies and test planning

  • Find opportunities for improvements when high-level analysis work is still being conducted.
  • Ensure adherence to compliance requirements from a legal, pricing and overall strategic perspective.
  • Manage and ensure acceptable risk environment.
  • Responsible to build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships and operate in a completely matrixed environment.
  • Align ME and channel strategy to business unit, segment and Cluster strategies.
  • Identify areas of increased client service and automation opportunities within the existing systems and processes and highlight those identified to the business, process area and other relevant stakeholders. 
  • Facilitate agreement on solutions across business units, divisions and other channels e.g CASA, HLs, VAF, Card, Personal Loans, Investments, Retail, Corporate, Business Banking, CAN, NAS, CMS etc.
  • Facilitate and manage multiple streams of development.

Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

  • Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees
  • Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate

Preferred Qualification

  • IT Degree and Project Management qualification

Minimum Experience Level

  • At least 10 plus years in an IT environment and across IT disciplines. Business System and / or Product experience and ability to lead a team.
  • At least 5 years Project Management experience
