Maintenance Artisan Boilermaker - Samancor

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To safely carry out preventive maintenance and repairs to the plant in line with planned, unplanned, breakdown and documented work.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety, Health, Environment and Quality:

• Participate and comply with SHEQ Requirements (SHEQ Toolbox)
• Ensure adherence to health, safety, environment, risk and quality standards and requirements
• Comply with OHSA standards, and statutory regulations, conform to safety standards, housekeeping standards (5S) and planned maintenance system requirements

• Ensure cooperation as a team member during team activities and tasks

   

Customers:

• Ensure cooperation as a team member during team activities and tasks

   

Business Processes:

• Apply fault-finding techniques, assist with root cause failure analysis
• Maintain, repair and replace mechanical parts, components and equipment
• Execute breakdown work orders, create notifications, perform daily work order confirmations, provide accurate feedback and generate orders on the SAP system
• Performing work safely and reliably ensuring the highest level of workmanship
• Conduct regular plant inspections and report non-conformance and deviations to standards to Supervisors
• Monitoring the operational conditions of machinery and equipment
• Carrying out routine maintenance on production equipment and tools to ensure legal and operational compliance
• Perform standby duties when Required
• Work overtime from time to time to ensure high plant availability, reduced downtime and all deadlines are ascertained.
• Perform Shift Duties on an Adhoc basis during Shutdowns and in times when so required
• Communicate if spares, equipment, or other factors were not available for job on the work order and to the Maintenance Supervisor
• Perform tasks related to Advanced Rigging after relevant training completed
• Perform possible duties as Lifting Tackle Inspector as and when required
• Work from heights and in confined spaces and follow the various procedures related to such.
• Perform general housekeeping as part of the relevant tasks allocated.
• Basic Mechanical assistance
• Perform Copper Brazing
• Perform general Gas Cutting, grinding and Arc welding
• Perform Electrode casing maintenance
• Perform basic NDT

Rotable Management:

• Change out item
• Create a PM order detailing items to be drawn from stock
• Create a reservation for routable on PM order
• Create subsequent notification
• Complete all fields on the “Damage” tag on the returned item to the routable store
• Physically transport damaged routable to lay down area

Mobile Equipment:

• Lift and move loads using a forklift
• Handle loads using an overhead crane, Hoist and or Lifting Tackle and or machinery
• Operate Aerial/Boom/Cherri Picker
• Operate Manitou and or Tractor when and if so required when licenced

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Grade 12/N3 and a relevant Trade Test
• 3 years of relevant experience
• Computer literate
