Biosecurity and Quality Officer - Country Bird Holdings

We are looking for an individual that can contribute and strengthen our Agri Team in our Bio Security and Quality Departments. The goal is to ensure that duties are carried out speedily and effectively to enable the operations to comply with the set standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for inspecting, maintaining and implementing bio-security procedures and standards & reporting non-compliance and breaches.
• Reporting on risks posed by on-farm practices that might pose a risk to the wellbeing and success of the company
• Assisting with quality management (GAP) functions within the Agri department
• Internal audits of Breeder farms and Hatcheries, ensuring compliance and advising on corrective measures
• Work efficiently in a team environment with tact, patience, and a willingness to work with colleagues, ability to build relationships in different departments
• Additional auditing or verification functions as required
• Providing manager and site managers with reports and feedback.

Quality

• Maintain files and ensure that it is complete and up to date with the latest versions
• Ensure that records are completed correctly, fully and the latest versions in use
• Supervise training of staff by Supervisors on procedures, and verify that training are done
• Monitor procedures on-farm and on-site to determine whether SOPs are adhered to and reporting deviations.
• Identify the use of non-authorised or un-official procedures and initiate the establishment of an approved procedure if appropriate
• Remove any outdated information or procedures from facilities.

Biosecurity

• Daily Bio-security checks according to the checklist and to SOP’s
• Monitoring the service level received by rodent control service providers
• On-Farm training on biosecurity for new employees and visitors
• Perform House Hygiene Swabs after washing if needed
• Ensuring Hygiene SOP’s are followed daily and chemical usages are correct

Minimum Requirements

• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
• Attention to detail
• Ability to communicate effectively (Fluent in English, verbally and written)
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Power point, Outlook)
• Drivers’ license & Own transport required (appointed candidate would need to travel between sites)
• Grade 12
• Degree in the relative field would be beneficial
• Internal auditing/ISO/Global GAP/YUM!/Similar certification standard experience would be beneficial
• Previous experience in a poultry environment/operation will be beneficial
