Quality Technologist - Mr Price Group

We are currently looking for a Quality Technologist to join our team at Mr Price. The objective of the role of a Quality Technologist is to provide quality assurance for the products we offer and to partner with the merchant team to provide value-driven merchandise.

This is a product and admin-focused role which requires the ability to critically assess samples. The role would require the Quality Technologist to research testing methods and carry out performance testing of our products under various conditions to provide assurance that they meet the product specification in line with the Consumer Protection Act.

Whilst reporting to the Quality Manager, you will work alongside a team of Technologists who support the merchandise buying team. You will be required to approve products using a pre-production seal quality process. You will need to be actively involved to assist buyers/suppliers with all QA-related queries to ensure products are suitable for trade.

You will be responsible for completing all the administrative requirements related to this product and process and may be required to do occasional store visits. You will also be required to constantly obtain knowledge through various sources to ensure continuous improvement within this department.

• A relevant qualification preferably within Textile Design/ Technology or Production Management.
• At least 2 years of previous quality technologist/ auditing experience within a manufacturing environment.
• An understanding of industry quality requirements and performance standards and the ability to review and update these requirements annually.
• The ability to critically evaluate various reports which accompany a sample.
• A basic understanding of product specifications, materials, product testing and manufacturing processes.
• The ability to carry out quality projects to support continuous improvement within product categories.
• The ability to problem solve at supplier and store level.
• Build and maintain good relationships with all suppliers to enable to meet company objectives.
• Ability to identify and anticipate potential and existing Quality issues/risks on products and actively work with suppliers to put in corrective actions based on the industry best practice to ensure bulk production conforms to the required standards.
• Working alongside the Compliance team to ensure the Quality Standards are in line with industry standards.
