The prospective incumbent will support the team by providing strong analytical and research capabilities throughout the strategic sourcing process, they will conduct research, monitor applicable market, and develop strategic sourcing expertise and further assist in the category management process, including but not limited to supporting sourcing strategies, monitoring performance and compliance, managing communications, and developing improvement opportunities and where necessary, assist with tender execution.
Position outputs:
- Generates data analysis for value capture (strategic sourcing, SRM) and enablement processes
- Conducts data analysis for supplier market assessments and internal demand planning as inputs for sourcing strategies and to support the tender process.
- Collates data (spend data, contract utilisation, material master and service master utilisation) for Transnet Property and from suppliers and produce reports as required.
- Generate dashboards for visibility of critical enablers for strategic sourcing.

Research / Analysis
- Analysis and reporting on strategic commodities market performance including through analysis of cost drivers.
- Research and analyse the supply market and supplier capabilities to provide the tactical team and other stakeholders with insights.
- Provide analytical support for new targets and expectations.
Strategic Sourcing Support
- Support alignment with Transnet Property’s priorities and savings targets.
- Conduct analyses to help establish and revise performance expectations.
- Assist with creating dashboards for commodities procurement index models.
- Monitor established contracts and realisation of savings.
- Provide supplier performance status updates and savings realisation.
- Analyse spend data to enable decision-making when categorising commodities, suppliers and customers
- Analyse and provide a supporting business case to refine performance expectations and identify process improvement opportunities
- Support the development of change management plans and communication plans.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in relevant field
- MBA or related postgraduate qualification advantageous
- 6-8 years of related operational category management/strategic sourcing experience
- Research and Analytical skills
- PFMA, PPPFA and public sector Procurement experience
- MCIPS certification will be advantageous
Standard Job Requirements
- Driver’s license code 08
- Travel as required and approved
