As the assistant HVAC installation technician, you will assist the installation tech to install and support systems and products at a high standard. You will guarantee that all customer queries are resolved well, escalated in time, and feedback is continuously shared with the team.
What you'll do
- Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of ventilation and air conditioning systems and equipment as per job cards
- Follow all reasonable instructions and requests issued by the HVAC installation technician
- Work overtime when required to do so by management
- Take technical direction and on-the-job training
- Assist in keeping daily logs and records of all maintenance functions as required by the HVAC installation technician
- Ensure that all tools and equipment are in good working order and are used properly
- Conduct thorough site clean-up on completion of work at the customer site
- Implement proper preparation and stock management prior to commencing work on site
- Comply with service standards, work instructions, and customers' requirements
- Exemplify professional conduct in the correct manner and in accordance with the standards detailed in the operations manual
- Provide exceptional customer service and take due care to avoid damage to customer property

What you'll need
- Grade 12 qualification
- 2+ years of experience as an HVAC technician assistant
- Relevant trade test (beneficial)
- Willingness to continue education in the HVAC field
- A valid driving and gas license
- An understanding of the principles of air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating
- Knowledge of service, product, and installation methods
- Capacity to use discretion when examining installation instructions
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Literacy and numeracy skills
- Personal integrity, empathy, and a supreme, mature sense of confidentiality (required)
- Listening skills
- Attention to detail
- To be punctual and presentable at all times

- Solving problems through root cause analysis to provide a permanent solution
- Conversant with HVAC products, tools, and installation methods
