Front End Loader / Grab Operator - SA Metal Group

The SA Steelworks requires a committed, hardworking and trustworthy FEL/Grab Operator to join their team. The successful candidate will provide support to the SA Steelworks division within the SA Metal group.

The FEL / Grab Operator`s primary purpose is to provide support within the Services & Shipping division as operationally required.

The following tasks will include, but are not limited to:

• Responsible for piling scrap materials within the services yard
• Responsible for the safe loading of shipping containers as per requirement
• The loading and off-loading of trucks
• Billet stacking and slag sorting
• Assist production team with production related activities when required
• Responsible for optimum use of billet storage area
• Zero incidents of damaged equipment because of improper metallurgical vessel handling/transportation.
• Keep work surroundings clean and obstruction free as per OHS act requirements.
• Interchangeable loading/transportation and cleaning equipment to be stored safely.
• Participate and actively encourage periods of production and non-production in continuous housekeeping.
• Safe operation of FEL, machine as per standards detailed in SOP and the training provided by external service providers at all times.
• Mobile machines are inspected daily, checklist forwarded to the responsible engineering section.

QUALIFYING EXPERIENCE

• Grade 12 certificate or equivalent
• Valid FEL / Grab license and certificate
• 2 – 5 years of relevant experience
• Minimum 2 years experience in a production environment
• Shift work as operationally required
