Junior Developer at Mr Price IT Division

The Mr Price IT Division is looking for a Junior Developer to work under direct supervision and support the design and implementation of sound, sustainable and working technological solutions used by the Group to meet business requirements and continuously improve existing solution to drive optimisation in accordance with IT processes, standards and best practices as defined by the business.                                                                                                                                                                                                 

Key Responsibilities:          

Technical Design:

• Provide technical knowledge to inform the project manager on expected project outcomes in the design phase, this includes providing timeframes, capabilities to achieve desired outcomes, project/change specifications, application specifications etc.
• Keep abreast of the latest changes in IT to provide insights and recommendations to the business in regard to optimisation & improvements to existing systems, and new development tools including changes in coding languages, new software and operating system releases, trends in development etc.

Project Execution & Development:

• Support the development, enhancement and maintenance of technical solutions that conform to specified architectural design to execute the project plan/change specification for the required application or solution ensuring adherence to project timelines and application works in the live environment.
• Design and write test cases for unit testing by the testing team to ensure that technical aspects of the application are fully stress tested and any bugs are fixed accordingly.
• Create documentation and user guides for technical aspects of applications or changes to inform stakeholders (testers, project managers, roll-out team, end users etc.) of desired outcomes and use instructions for the application.
• Provide basic second level application support to current solutions to resolve user issues with applications.

Requirements:   

Education:

• Diploma (B.Tech) or University Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

Experience:

• 0 - 2 years IT experience.

Knowledge/ Skills:

• Current and Main stream coding language (Oracle, SQL, .Net, etc.)
• Basic understanding of business portfolio and processes of IT development.
