Communications Officer - University of the Witwatersrand

Duties: 

The primary purpose of the job is to profile the DSI-NRF Centre of Excellence in Palaeosciences to all our stakeholders using a range of multimedia technologies.

The duties will involve writing and editorial work for different media and producing relevant and appropriate content for various media channels. The incumbent should be familiar with multiple multimedia technologies to depict applicable content for media, publicity and other purposes.

Qualifications and job requirements:

• Relevant Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

• A background in either science, digital technologies, media will be advantageous

• Excellent English written, spoken and communication skills. Proficiency in one or more of the official South African languages is a plus

• Excellent research and interviewing skills

• Attention to detail

• Ability to work to strict deadlines

• Outstanding writing portfolio

• Five years relevant working experience

• Computer literate

• Driver’s licence

• Motivated, energetic and creative

 

Additional details: Must be willing to work after hours or on weekends to attend and promote events if required.

Remuneration: A competitive package is offered and commensurate with the level of appointment.

Amount of Travel: Some travel required.

Work at Home: Flexible with approval from the line manager.
