MAIN PURPOSE:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for a variety of key functions, including managing fixed assets, bank administration and general ledger accounting. The Accountant will ensure accuracy in financial records, perform monthly reconciliations, and assist in compliance and reporting duties, contributing to the overall efficiency of the financial department
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Bank Administration:
- Maintain credit and fuel card accounts, including updates and reconciliation.
- Manage bank mandates and liaise with the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) for approvals.
- Prepare SARB approval documentation and letters.
- Update ALPLA Trinity as required.

Transaction Processing:
- Extract and load daily bank statements to the shared folder for cashbook processing.
- Extract bi-weekly credit card statements and process payments.
- Process payments for both local and foreign bank accounts.
- Perform month-end bank reconciliations.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for loans (intercompany and third-party).
General Ledger:
- Ensure that transactions are recorded accurately and timely in accordance with internal controls.
- Process monthly expense allocations and month-end journals (accruals and provisions).
- Conduct monthly revaluation runs and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Facilitate intercompany confirmations.
Fixed Assets:
- Oversee fixed asset maintenance and ensure proper recording of all tangible and intangible assets.
- Perform AUC (Assets Under Construction) reconciliations and identify assets ready for capitalization.
- Reconcile the Fixed Asset Register (FAR) to the Trial Balance (TB).
- Conduct periodic PPE verifications and identify obsolete assets for disposal.
Reporting:
- Prepare monthly Statistics SA declarations and other ad-hoc reporting as required.
- Assist with Corporate group reporting.
What you can expect working with us
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- BCom Accounting degree (or equivalent).
- Completion of SAICA/SAIPA articles or 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting, and financial reporting principles and practices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with D365 will be advantageous.
- Income Tax and VAT knowledge would be advantageous
