The HSEQ Officer will be responsible to support and co-ordinate the implementation, maintain and update the EHS systems in order to identify and eliminate all potential hazards in compliance with relevant legislation; through ensuring compliance to all statutory requirements and company standards; performing risk assessments; facilitating safety meetings and providing internal EHS training. Promoting Environmental, Health and Safety awareness and supporting management with maintaining compliance.

HSEQ Officer working on site for Enel Green Power are expected to perform the following activities on site and not limited to:

  • Ensure that Enel Green Power Policies and Procedures are communicated to the O&M contractors.
  • Record of such communicated Policies and Procedures are kept for inspection by Internal and External auditors.
  • Ensure that the Baseline Risk Assessment of the plant communicated to the O&M contractors as well as Enel Green Power site Staff.

  • Ensure the medical fitness of new employees are checked if they are still valid before giving them site induction.
  • Ensure that O&M contractors develop their risk assessments for every activity to be conducted on site.
  • Ensure that safety documentation for new contractors are checked and accepted before work commences.
  • Reviews and approves all contractors and subcontractors safety files
  • Promotes safe practices at the job site.
  • Ensures that emergency preparedness plan is in place at all O&M plants and that drill do take place.
  • Ensure that contractor personnel working at plants are compliant with company policies and safety requirements.
  • Compile, keep and ensure that man hours are updated monthly.
  • Ensures that HSE monthly reports are compiled and submitted by all O&M plants timeously.
  • Ensures that all incidents reported on HSEQ4U are closed out monthly.
  • Ensure that all incidents occurring at site are reported within the stipulated time.
  • Ensures that any High Potential (HP) cases, First Aid cases are investigate within the Company stipulated timeline.
  • Ensure that investigation reports of all incidents are submitted with all supporting documentations.
  • Ensure that Safe work systems are implemented and followed accordingly.
  • Promotes any HSE initiatives that the company implements
  • Provide SHE related advice to site personnel.
  • Able to travel to O&M plants frequently to conduct HSE inspections.
  • Able to compile a procedure or flow chart as per requirements
  • Environmental performance evaluation, and environmental reporting and disclosure

 

Knowledge and Experiences

HSEQ Officer is required to have these minimum SHE requirements:

  • SAMTRAC, NEBOSH
  • Incident Investigation
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA)

  • Conversant with OHS Act and regulations
  • Hazard Identification Risk Assessment (HIRA)
  • Computer skills
  • Good communication and writing skills
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience within HSEQ field.
  • Able to communicate effectively on all levels of the company
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop positive working relationships with various stakeholders within the company.
  • Strong planning, organising and control skills.
  • Capable of working unsupervised and in a pressurised environment.
  • E xcellent organizational skills with the ability to work with minimum direction and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • A self-starter who takes a proactive approach and has good decision making skills.
  • A self-motivated individual who excels in a challenging environment
  • Deep safety and environmental standards knowledge (Renewables technology);
  • Techniques for risk assessment (including determining controls based on “hierarchy of controls”, and risk communication) both for Safety and Environment;
  • Methods for incident (including accident and work-related illnesses) investigation and evaluation (i.e. root cause analysis), and methods for monitoring and reporting health and safety performance;
  • Source reduction, waste minimization, reuse, recycling and treatment practices and process (waste, wastewaters, excavated soils).
  • Environmental performance evaluation, and environmental reporting and disclosure.
  • Auditing techniques.
  • Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments in adverse and extreme weather conditions, and in confined spaces, and on scaffolding.
  • Medical Fit for job on site.
  • Prefer GWO certified work at height and evacuation training.
  • Understanding legal and other requirements to health and safety and environment.
  • Evaluation of health and human factors, method for exposure monitoring and assessment of occupational health and safety risks, human behaviour, person-to-person and person-to-machine interactions;
  • NEBOSH Accreditation is considered a plus
  • Experience with international company is considered
