RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reporting to the Production Manager
- Planning jobs using resources effectively and efficiently and in accordance with the production plan
- Issuing and organising of job/production processes in accordance with production schedule
- Quality checks in accordance with ISO procedures constantly referring to the technical drawings
- Achieving standard times, set targets and delivery dates
- Controlling time and attendance and performance of the team and taking disciplinary action when required
- Attending and actively participating in production meetings
- General overall running of the department by leading and then controlling all resources available (manpower, machinery, material and manufacturing/method)
- Daily meetings with welding department employees and motivating/coaching employees
- The position does require flexibility and overtime hours when required
- General housekeeping of the area as well as housekeeping of the machinery and tools
- Health and Safety of employees within the department

REQUIREMENTS
- Clear ITC and Criminal Records
- Matric or equivalent or at least Level 4 English and Level 4 Mathematics
- Qualified “red seal” Welding Artisan
- Welding knowledge of stainless steel, mild steel and galvanized material essential
- Knowledge of grinding and polishing
- Knowledge of sheet metal and ability to read and understand mechanical and sheet metal drawings
- Minimum of three years sound line management/supervisory/Foreperson experience
- Sound planning, organising, leading and controlling skills
- Quality conscious and committed to quality
- English written and verbal communication skills and an ability to communicate and give feedback effectively
- Ability to motivate a team of people and to enforce discipline and manage conflict
- Accuracy and attention to detail essential
- Good attendance record
- A good team player capable of delivering results under pressure and to strict deadlines
- Positive, “can do” attitude, assertiveness, enthusiasm and honesty are the characteristics needed to take this position to the next level
