Role Purpose

The Data Warehouse Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, optimizing, and maintaining robust data warehouse systems to support the organization’s reporting, analytics, and business intelligence needs.

The Data Warehouse Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, optimizing, and maintaining robust data warehouse systems to support the organization’s reporting, analytics, and business intelligence needs.

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities and work outputs

  • Expertise in designing and creating a database (dimensional modelling) and all its objects, such as tables, views, Stored Procedures, and functions.
  • Build, optimize, and maintain the MS SQL Server Database that carries large volumes of data.
  • Database to Database partial data transfer expertise. Knowledgeable on ETL tool, SQL Server Integration Services specifically.
  • Participate in the analysis, design, development, troubleshooting, and support of the enterprise reporting and analytics platform.
  • Design, construct, test, and implement reporting, visualization, and dashboard processes that present reporting at a summary level with functionality to drill down into detail.
  • Integrate with various source systems, including In-House, Vendor-based, On-prem, cloud-based, and Office 365, showcasing the role's complexity.
  • Collaboration with the DevOps team and participation in testing all database-related changes and application updates are key to our team's success.
  • Responsible for the daily database development/administrative tasks, including developing and optimizing queries, views, and other database schema objects.
  • Establishing data management best practices to ensure data accuracy and quality, making you a key player in our team.
  • Maintain data model architecture and schema, hierarchy within data warehouse, and reporting systems.
  • Contribute to business continuity for all BCP actions and DR plans.
  • Applying database tuning techniques to improve the performance of current solutions.
  • Work with stakeholders to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.
  • Prototype and build dashboards integrating multiple data sources.
  • Write and troubleshoot simple to complex SQL scripts, stored procedures, views, functions, etc., as required.
  • Troubleshoot and fix all performance issues concerning databases (objects & scripts).
  • SQL Query tuning and performance tuning.
  • Create, publish, and maintain ETL’s and SQL Server jobs.
  • Data Mining techniques.
  • Expert in SSIS package development, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Maintain referential, domain, and column integrity using available options such as constraints.
  • Maintain the performance of database objects (like tables, views, and Stored Procedures) by following tuning tips such as normalization and indexes.
  • Assists project teams in designing and developing core business components utilizing industry-accepted analysis and design standards.
  • Develop BI solutions using SQL, ETL scripting, business intelligence tools, database programming, and reporting tools on the Microsoft BI Stack.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or related fields.
  • Advanced certifications in database management or BI tools (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, SSIS, Power BI) are a plus.
  • Minimum 5 - 8 years of experience in database development, data warehousing, or business intelligence.
  • Proven track record of working with large-scale data environments and implementing ETL/SSIS processes.
  • Expertise in Microsoft SQL Server and the Microsoft BI Stack.
  • Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries and stored procedures.
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and database-related testing.
