We are now seeking a General Trade (GT Sales Representative based in Bryanston. 

This role has a balanced OOH portfolio, and you will be responsible for retaining and growing  the current customer base over multiple portfolios; including exposure to OOH Distributors, QSR/FSR, and a diverse balance of trade (BOT) customer base. Maintaining collaborative relationships with both internal and external stakeholders through identifying new business opportunities, to achieve common goals and long-term sustainable profitability.

A day in the life of...

A GT Sales Rep:

  • Implement successful plans & promotions at the Customer (Local and Regional level to drive sustainable portfolio growth:  
  • Performance against sales targets and promotion evaluations, while cementing product application through customer demos.
  • Management of sales territory and achievement of monthly and annual targets:
  • Daily / Weekly /Monthly call cycle, Sales reports, Customer Business Reviews, Customer activities and Contact reports.
  • Apply outstanding Customer Service Relationship Management - Investigate and resolve all Customer queries and complaints relating to GT business: 
  • Monthly AR meetings, weekly WOR and DM Reports, Customer feedback and daily problem-solving.     
  • Understand and analyse customer needs and provide solutions accordingly: 
  • Listen to customer needs, complete ROI, and prepare customer proposals for presentation).            
  • Follow up and report back on leads: 
  • Managing pipeline and reporting.
  • Identify and close new business opportunities: 
  •  Qualify potential new customers with appropriate solutions to aid with either growing the existing customer base or aiding direct purchasing via new account opening

What will make you successful

  • Minimum 3-5 years of sales experience - with a proven track record of business development in FMCG industry. 
  • Degree/Diploma – Bcom, Sales & Marketing, Finance, or related       
  • PC literate knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint)  
  • Unendorsed driver’s license - Code 08    
  • Previous experience as a Sales Representative,  Key Accounts or  Field Sales will be advantageous 
  • Comfortable with problem-solving, organised, self-starter, team player who is comfortable with face-to-face customer interaction.    
  • Confident in dealing with multiple data sources and adapting and responding to change
  • Results and deadline-focused
  • Communication, influencing, negotiation and presentation skills   
  • Good time management          
  • Financial Understanding - awareness of ROI (Return of Investment)  

Qualification:  Degree/Diploma - BCom, Sales & Marketing, Finance or related 

Experience: Minimum 3 years sales experience - with a proven track record of new business development in FMCG Industry, with exposure to Out of Home (OOH),  Retail, Distributors, Hospitality or Business and Industry (B&I) being advantageous.
