Artisan: Boilermaker - Ivanhoe Mines

IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to develop this “mine of the future”. Suitably qualified and experienced candidates are invited to apply for the following vacancies required for the project development.

The suitable candidate must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

• Matric, N2, N3 Engineering Studies
• Trade certificate

The suitable candidate must have the following work experience:

• 4 years as a boilermaker and 2 to 3 years underground experience.
• Fluency in English
• Role Specific Knowledge – Underground Mining, Pipe and steel work (Expert), Pumps, Fabrication and development of steel and pipes, Underground steelwork and pipes and workshops
• Experience with Epiroc Machines (Advantageous)
• Computer literate
• MS Office and Adobe (Basic)
• A basic level of proficiency

Your successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

• Manufacture, assemble and install pipes and steelwork according to requirements and design
• Repair and alterations to infrastructure, vehicles, machinery and equipment
• Inspections and replacement of pumps
• Contribute to building a high-performing team
• Monitor costs or expenses within the approved budget to achieve cost efficiencies and reduce waste
• Support Transformation in terms of people, automation/ digitisation and sustainability
• Integrate HSEQ into all work processes
• Adhere to and improve reporting processes for areas of responsibility
