Position Overview:

To provide efficient and effective technical maintenance support to the school by ensuring that school facilities are taken care of by fixing, renewing, and rebuilding as per the maintenance tickets. Provide ongoing and generic maintenance duties throughout the school.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform basic irrigation repairs, plumbing, basic electrical assistance and basic building.
  • Installing irrigation and sprinkler system
  • Test system for potential issues
  • Sprinkler valve repair
  • Develop and maintain Landscape areas as needed.
  • Manage an inventory of spares and replacement parts.
  • Suggest watering schedules.
  • Implement solutions for drought.
  • Fix all facility technical deficiencies reported through the maintenance tickets.
  • Plumbing maintenance of bathrooms/classrooms/corridors and grounds.
  • Notify management of occurring deficiencies or needs for repairs.
  • Maintaining and upkeep of all cleaning equipment, supplies, and products.
  • Disposal of trash from bins transporting waste material to designated collection points.
  • Assist with any other duties as prescribed by the Supervisor / Manager.
  • Follow all rules relating to the Facilities Management system.
  • Attend to ongoing maintenance of buildings and grounds as logged through the ticket.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 or N-4 Technical qualification
  • Relevant Certificate in (Irrigation and plumbing)
  • Basic computer certificate will be added advantage.
  • Driver’s license will be an added advantage

  • Ability to communicate in English (speak, read, and write)
  • Multilingual will be an added advantage.

  • Able to follow verbal directions.
  • Ability to pay attention to details.
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Sound technical knowledge

Preferred skills and experience:

  • 2 years’ previous experience as irrigation technician and plumbing.
  • Extreme safe sensitive and constant alertness.
  • Physical fitness to lift items and work in heights.
  • General understanding of various maintenance tools.
  • Basic landscaping skills will be an added advantage.
  • Have good hand-eye coordination.
  • Physically able to reach, stretch, bend, and walk during daily routine, with ability to stand for long lengths of time.
  • Basic understanding of Health & Safety Act and its requirements.

School Hours:

This is a 45-hour per week position and may be required to work longer hours from time to time.
