Responsible for the safe operation of a vehicle, ensuring safe transportation of customer and supplier goods to and from various destinations and the safe loading and off-loading from vehicles as prescribed. Compliance with all legislation governing the use and safe operation of a vehicle on public roads and operation of the vehicle by ACS requirements and compliance with customer-specific site requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES):

• Perform accurate completion of daily vehicle check lists.
• Obey the traffic rules at all times as stipulated in the requirements and rules of the National Road Traffic Act, 1996 (Act No 93 of 1996)
• Perform other reasonable duties as requested to meet business needs
• Responsible for the care and maintenance of an allocated vehicle (ensure the vehicle is clean interior and exterior and the vehicle is serviced at the required intervals)
• Ensure all delivery documents, including Proof of Delivery and customer release forms, are completed, and returned after delivery to customer site.
• Adhere to customer site requirements including wearing of prescribed Personal Protective Equipment and Site Safety Rules
• Follow the established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives

• Adhere to the transportation & vehicle control policies and ensure that cargo is properly secured to avoid damage
• Assist with monthly stock takes
• Adhere to company loading procedure and practice
• Adherence and accuracy of deliveries and collections comparing part numbers and serial numbers on documents
• Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of company equipment and assets (Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices)

Minimum Requirements

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Grade 12 / Matric
• Valid Driver’s Licence / PDP
• Vehicle-mounted Crane operation (advantageous)

EXPERIENCE:

• Good working knowledge of the safe operation of a vehicle
• Good understanding of despatch procedures
