Cleaner (12 Month Contract) - Western Cape Department of Health

Institution: Worcester Regional Hospital (Chief Directorate: Rural Health Services)

Duties (key result areas/outputs):

• General cleaning and maintenance (dusting, vacuuming, polishing, scrubbing, mopping).
• Ensure that cleaning equipment e.g., polishing and scrubbing machines, mops, brooms, buckets etc. are clean after usage and securely stored, according to Infection control standards.
• Effectively use cleaning agents and stock as well as elementary stock control.
• Management of linen and segregation of waste.
• Responsible for general hygienic and safe environment in line with Infection Control Standards and procedures, including the SEAT.

Requirements

Minimum requirement:

• Basic numeracy and literacy.

Experience:

• Appropriate cleaning experience in health environment.
  
  

Inherent requirement of the job:

• Ability to communicate in two of the three official languages of the Western Cape.

Competencies (knowledge/skills):

• Knowledge of Standard Precautions of Infection Prevention and Control.
• Good communication skills.
