The main purpose of the job is to ensure exceptional delivery of Rectron goods and equipment to customers, in accordance with specific schedule provided, to the allocated area in an efficient and timeous manner.

Job Dimensions

Driver Maintenance & Safety

  • Escalate problematic issues promptly to the supervisor in order to generate solutions.
  • Excellent customer service by being courteous at all times.
  • Obtain accurate signed POD’s from deliveries and hand over to the supervisor timeously.
  • Communicate general maintenance and licensing issues to your Line Manager
  • Report any infringement, accident, notice of service, loss of stock, damage of stock, hijacking or any other important issue to your supervisor immediately.
  • Adhere to driving rules and regulations of the road all times.
  • Execute Rectron standards of excellence in your daily duties
  • Assist with other job related duties as and when required by your line Manager
  • General administration, Scanning of POD’s / Invoices into Microfile System
  • General housekeeping and vehicle cleanliness
  • Safeguard the cellular phone issued to them by the company and make sure that no unauthorized calls or use is conducted on this phone.
  • The driver needs to inform their supervisor should they not be able to finish the set deliveries for the day

Vehicle Maintenance

  • Report any damage or accidents to the Delivery Supervisor immediately
  • Inform the Deliveries Supervisor of tyres or windscreen repairs that needs to be done
  • Inform the Deliveries Supervisor of services needed every 10 000km
  • Inform the Deliveries Supervisor of tyre rotation needed every 5 000km
  • Make sure that every vehicle has a spare tyre & jack
  • Make sure that every vehicle has a fire extinguisher
  • Report all accidents to the nearest Police station within 24 hours after the accident, and get all details from all parties involved. Report these details to the Delivery Supervisor


Key Performance Indicators

Driving

  • Excellent customer service by being courteous at all times.
  • Execute Rectron standards of excellence in your daily duties
  • Drivers must ensure they have the correct orders and quantity of boxes from the vehicle at the delivery point
  • Drivers must ensure the customer signs and writes their name and surname legibly on the invoice or POD.
  • In the event of an end user delivery ensure the receiving person matches the details on the POD, no invoice should be released to the end user.
  • Upon arriving at work, the driver must perform a pre-trip safety check on the vehicle according to the Motor Vehicle Daily Inspection checklist set out in our company’s Health and Safety policy.

Reporting

  • Report any damage or accidents to the Delivery Supervisor immediately
  • Inform the Deliveries Supervisor of services needed every 10 000km
  • Report any infringement, accident, notice of service, loss of stock, damage of stock, hijacking or any other important issue to your supervisor immediately.

Operations

  • Accurate and timeous order delivery – all orders must be checked with the customer to ensure accurate delivery of goods.

Training

Recommended

  • Anti Hijack Training
  • Advanced Driving Skills training

Education/Qualification

  • Matric or higher education
  • Must have up to date and accurate drivers licence with no infringements
  • Must have valid PDP at all times
