Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) presents an exciting opportunity for a Group Specialist: Fleet Safety, to join the Supply Chain CCBA department. The Group Specialist: Fleet Safety is a mid-level resource and they contribute efforts to improve the safety and to minimise the risk associated with using a fleet of vehicles.

The Group Specialist: Fleet Safety contributes to safety in the enterprise and the supply chain by improving the safety conditions for the fleet of vehicles used by the organisation.
This employee is a specialist that focuses on:
- The minimisation of fleet liabilities by developing and implementing fleet safety policies and related compliance frameworks and supporting processes.
- The effects and impacts of changes in road safety legislation, insurance regulations and practices that must be addressed to reduce risk and maximise compliance.
- Improved fleet safety capacity and capability across the business through the provision of processes, frameworks, tools, training, and generic risk control measures to mitigate significant non-compliance.
- This employee is responsible for the development of a Fleet Risk strategy as well as a Fleet Safety Compliance framework, consisting of Policies, Standards and Processes that can be used to implement the strategy in all the territories. The employee will have to liaise with the respective Logistics personnel in the countries regarding the execution.
- They ensure that solutions based on the principles and requirements of fleet safety and risk are developed. In this regard they create business cases to convince decision makers in the organisation of the value and returns to be gained from improved solutions and approaches.
- They act as influencers that uses their position in the corporate office to drive awareness of the hidden costs and unintended consequences of non-compliance to fleet risk safety policies, regulations, and legislation.
- The Group Specialist: Fleet Risk Safety acts as programme manager for the deployment of initiatives and solutions by creating plans, sourcing information, and managing and monitoring the systematic implementation of the solution in each country or location affected.
- They have an important responsibility to ensure the constant assessment, tracking, and monitoring of fleet risk safety management, fleet risk safety controls and road safety and insurance regulations and to collect associated data for compliance, regulatory and management reports and analytics. They build and add to fleet safety capability in the CCBA enterprise by providing the tools, training, systems, and solutions and ensuring adoption by users.
The successful candidate will be reporting to the Group Head: SHEQ and may reside in any of the CCBA footprint of countries: South Africa, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ghana, Mozambique, Botswana, Namibia & Zambia.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Continuously researching and learning about the current global thinking on fleet safety practices, fleet risk management and legislation and insurance regulations in general and in the bottling industry specifically.
- Introducing new and thought-leading fleet safety practices and fleet risk management ideas and trends into the enterprise and keeping stakeholders abreast with current thinking.
- Acting as an internal consultant on aspects of fleet safety and fleet risk management practices and providing advice to the business and decision-makers on the topic.

- Gaining inputs and developing the short-, medium- and long-term strategy and annual plan for the CCBA fleet safety.
- Integrating the fleet safety strategy with the organizational SHEQ strategy and other relevant pieces of work.
- Socializing and obtaining sign-off and buy-in on the fleet safety strategy from all relevant stakeholders.
- Identifying the vendors and providers of fleet safety practices and fleet risk management solutions (in collaboration with the Logistics Excellence Team) and services and establishing and maintaining relationships with them.
- Working with the Logistics Excellence team to source solutions or selecting vendors that can design and develop the solutions.
- Ensuring that the Fleet technical specifications for own- and Third-Party fleets meet the required safety standards.
- Ensuring that the Fleet Maintenance standards for own- and third-party fleets meet the required safety standards.
- Identify the fleet safety risks that should be mitigated and the fleet safety targets that needs to be achieved by new solutions.
- Building business cases to explain the benefits and impacts of new fleet safety practices and fleet risk management solutions.
- Monitoring the quality and performance of fleet services.
- Leading efforts to evaluate the success of sustainable fleet initiates and solutions.
- Mapping, documenting, and maintaining the current fleet safety practices and fleet risk management processes and making process and procedure information easily available.
- Defining the framework of fleet safety and fleet risk management policies and standards required in the business and collaborating with colleagues to create this collateral.
- Reviewing, evaluating, and interpreting country, regional or global fleet safety regulations that apply to CCBA and determining their applicability and impact on the relevant programmes and solutions.
- Designing the relevant fleet safety and fleet risk management policies and compliance frameworks for CCBA and selecting and implementing supportive methodologies and approaches.
- Identifying the fleet safety practices and fleet risk management related competencies and capabilities required through-out the business and ensuring that the competencies are assessed, and training presented to improve them.
- Developing and distributing handbooks, job-aids, and work procedures to support employees to adhere to fleet safety and fleet risk management requirements.
- Acting as a coach and mentor to internal fleet safety and fleet risk management employees in all the different CCBA businesses.
- Creating future scenarios and identifying the target metrics that CCBA must achieve with regards to sustainable fleet safety practices, and fleet risk management programmes to main required levels of safety.
- Using and applying international, local and industry sustainable fleet safety practices, fleet risk management standards and all regulatory acts that apply in the countries CCBA operates to determine reasonable metrics and targets.
- Collecting data and statistics to create analytics and reports and compiling global and internationally required reports.
- Ensuring the visualization of fleet safety and risk data for the different leadership teams to assist their business decision making
- Liaising with the Logistics Excellence Fleet manager to ensure that the technology used in the vehicles are used in the development of Driver performance reports
- Ensuring that the Driver performance reports include all the relevant Fleet Safety aspects and that the safety issues raised are tracked and executed in the Countries.
- Liaising with the Logistics Excellence Fleet manager to ensure that the required Telemetry and other safety features designed for Fleet safety are built in the Fleet Technology Framework
Skills, Experience & Education
Qualifications:
- The minimum qualification required for this job is a degree in Risk Management or Business Management
Experience:
- 8 to 10 years experience in the Risk / Fleet departments in the beverages industry with least 4-5 years focused on working in the fleet safety domain.
