Senior Fund Accountant: TFS and Hedge Funds - Maitland

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide assurance on fund valuations and perform fund valuations. The Senior Fund Accountant will need to manage, administer and account for portfolios in the traditional fund's area within Accounting Services.

The individual will be required to administer the funds efficiently, accurately and within daily deadlines as well as set up and ensure checklists and standards are adhered to.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensuring the accurate calculation of Fund valuations, including NAV’s and accounting to TB;
• Ensuring the accurate calculation of Fund valuations;
• Collating and verifying information from third parties;
• Responsibility for maintaining and continuously updating the process documentation; and
• Communicating and responding to queries internally and from the client, assisting team leaders and managers in resolving such queries.
• Perform checks within the team (in the absence of the team leader)

Minimum Requirements

• The qualifications below will be an advantage but if the individual has the relevant experience this will also be considered.
• A BCom or similar, accounting, economics or investments background;
• Strong knowledge of the operations of the fund management industry and trade life cycle;
• Experience in Asset Management portfolio administration and pricing minimum 2 to 3 years;
• Experience with investment products (including Unit Trusts, Multi-Manager, Segregated Portfolios, ETF’s, Pooled products) either locally or internationally an advantage;
• IT and Systems Skills and Knowledge;
• Preferably a good working knowledge of systems or an aptitude for working with systems;
• Computer literate with an excellent working knowledge of MS office & IT packages (particularly Excel);
• Knowledge of Invest One, Decalog and Xceptor an advantage
