Job Description

Your responsibilities will include:

• Promote safety awareness by reminding team members to follow work procedures and identify unsafe work practices
• Knowledge of and ability to conduct risk assessments
• Workplaces are declared safe prior to entry and machines are properly isolated prior to working on them, always follow work instructions to set standards and procedures
• Pre-use inspection was conducted properly and in detail prior to operating any service truck on the mine and brakes were tested prior to any use of the service trucks
• All warning lights on the machine must be reported and attended to in line with company procedures
• Good understanding of each type of lube for each type of machine and ensuring that correct oil, lubes etc are topped up in the correct machine without any overtopping or under topping
• Assist artisan during maintenance with lube facilities, machine clean ups and minor work associated with machine maintenance and services
• Ensure the lubes on service truck tanks are checked and topped up for every shift, any leakage on the tanks and the service trucks is to be reported immediately to the responsible supervisor
• Do proper contamination control when topping up machines with lubes with the ability to take oil or any form of lube samples for a condition monitoring strategy
• Must be properly trained, assessed and found competent to work on heights and the ability to work in confined spaces, conduct proper risk assessments prior to working on height or in confined spaces
• Quality support to Engineering Artisans and the production teams
• Report defects relating to leaks or obvious damages
• Reporting system defects (i.e. Fast fills, couplers, breathers)
• Reporting on log sheets if required

This role is in the Engineering department at a B5 level reporting to the Engineering Foreman

Qualifications

• Grade 10 with Numeracy and Literacy and or ABET 4
• Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science will be advantageous

Experience:

• Service Truck Operator experience will be advantageous
• Any trade-related or Mechanical equipment experience will be advantageous

Additional Information

• Good written verbal and communication skills in English
• Valid South African Driver’s License
• Must be prepared to work shifts, and overtime and do standby duties when required
• Not be afraid of working on heights and in confined spaces
• If successful, you will be required to undergo a Medical Fitness Test
