Loco Driver, Electrical - Gold Fields

The Loco-Driver fulfils a critical role in the safe transport of material cars from the station to the section and ore from box-fronts to station tips.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Adhere to safety regulations and contribute towards the achievement of set production targets.
• Responsible for the transportation of ore, explosives, employee transportation via man-carriages snd material cars
• Ensure that the locomotive is in good running condition at all times and that service schedules are adhered to and that defects are logged and reported timeously

• Intermediate knowledge of loco operations and re-railment of loco.
• Intermediate knowledge of explosive standards and procedures
• Good communication skills

Minimum Requirements:

• Be in possession of Grade 12/N3 qualification or equivalent.
• Be in possession of Loco Driver’s Certificate/license
• A minimum of two [2] years experience as a loco driver (Battery Operated)
• Appropriate Dover Assessment
• Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment.
• Must have proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or be fully vaccinated by the date of the commencement of employment.
