The Procurement Officer is responsible for evaluating suppliers, products, and services; assessing and negotiating contracts, and the designing, refinement and implementation of procurement policies, procedures and controls.

Here’s what you can expect to be doing in the role:
Process Design & Implementation
- Engage with stakeholders to set up and design fit-for-purpose procurement practice and policy
- Create clear SOPs and processes with roles & responsibilities
- Educate and Train stakeholders on the process to drive understanding across the business
Due Diligence
- Source and engage reliable vendors including assisting with the tender process and due diligence.
- Work closely with the legal and risk team to review new and existing contracts with suppliers and vendors to ensure strong commercials and on-going feasibility
- Perform annual supplier audits and due diligences including performance evaluations.
Drive operational cost savings
- Review, compare, analyze, and approve supplier spend through segmentation, profiling and evaluation modelling

Establish Business Control & Performance Management
- Create Controls to govern spend and vendor management
- Create visibility of effectiveness of controls across the business through development of incident reporting, monitoring and oversight.
- Control environment strengthening where relevant
Develop & Prepare Reports
- Prepare procurement reports and ad-hoc reporting to be shared with the Exco and Board.
- Assist in monitoring service levels and ensuring that suppliers adhere to agreed service levels and that these are defined and supported by service level agreements.
- Monitor and Report on BEE targets for 2022 to be shared with the Exco and Board.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, business management or a similar field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in accounting, procurement or large-scale business environment
- High level of computer literacy in MS Office Suite
- Knowledge of ERP systems and workflow design
- Exposure to multiple supply chains and business models
