We have a vacancy in our Finance Department for a Compliance and Tax Accountant, reporting to the Finance Controller.
This role will be responsible for the following:
- Responsible for compilation of annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS for KFC, PH, KFC BV Holdings and PH BV Holdings
- Compliance with local tax legislation – VAT 201, Income tax filings and any other applicable returns to SARS.
- Leading and managing the external audit for KFC, PH, KFC BV and PH BV
- Ensuring all internal audit and external audit control deficiencies are closed with the broader finance team within 3 months of the conclusion of audits

Key Responsibilities:
- Ensuring compliance with SOX controls
- Internal Tax Reporting – quarterly reporting, forecasting, annual US Tax pack
- VAT returns - calculation, reconciliation, submission and attending to SARS audits
- Local Income tax & statutory financial reporting (Audited financial statements, tax packs and tax returns)
- Support for shared service team – payment review, audit, ad-hoc tax projects
- Managing the local statutory audit for KFC and PH
Other responsibilities:
- Manage, analyze and report on all accounting/financial aspects of the KFC Social Trust
- Ensure the timeliness and accuracy of all internal and external tax reporting, ensuring compliance with local statutory and internal reporting requirements (preparation of financial statements and tax returns) for both brands
- Working as part of a dynamic shared service team, ensure Control achieves its periodic, quarterly and annual Tax Pure Gold Reporting targets while also ensuring compliance with Yum! policies for both brands.
- Preparation of Annual Audited Financial Statements in compliance with local legislation for KFC, PH, KFC BV Holdings and PH BV Holdings
- Preparation of the annual key calculations required for the completion of the annual financial statements
- Compliance with any local financial reporting requirements
- Leads and manages all the local Statutory audits for the above-mentioned entities
- Ensure the timeliness and accuracy of all internal and external tax reporting in compliance with local SARS legislation as well as YUM! Corporate Tax policies
- Compliance with local tax legislation – VAT 201, Income tax filings and any other applicable returns to SARS.
- Compilation of information and close out of all SARS related audits
- Tax and VAT forecasting required for cash flow forecasts
- Ensure Transfer pricing compliance
- Responsible for ensuring all WHT certificates are timeously received from franchisees

- Support to the Social Responsibility Accountant ensuring recons are timeously reviewed, audit is conducted and concluded timeously and financial statements are accurate and timeously prepared in line with local legislation
- Ensuring all internal audit and external audit control deficiencies are closed with the broader finance team within 3 months of the conclusion of audits
- Keeping SOX process documents up to date and in line with Global expectations and ensuring compliance with SOX controls by the broader finance team
- Completion of VAT and tax reconciliations
Qualifications:
- B.Com Financial Accounting
- Membership of professional body optional i.e. SAICA, SAIPA association
- 3-year article learnership preferred
Experience:
- 3 to 5 year’s experience in accounting
