Lead Finance (Senior Manager Finance) - South32

The purpose of the role is to provide leadership, expertise and advice to ensure reporting of timely and accurate financial accounting information and compliance for the Group and JV Participants (as applicable) to ensure all technical accounting and reporting regulatory requirements are met; to provide information to enable effective management decision making; to manage all internal financial accounting processes to meet monthly, quarterly, half yearly and yearly reporting requirements; and to oversee and ensure that a fit for purpose internal control environment operates and is effective for financial accounting and reporting requirements. The role interacts with a variety of senior stakeholders and holds statutory positions for in-country legal entities.

Requirements

• Commerce/Accounting Degree and hold a Chartered Accountant designation with a minimum of 8 years’ experience in financial accounting and reporting involving global operations, multiple currencies and mining/metals of which at least 5 years exposure to an Operational environment and 3 years in a leadership and supervisory capacity;
• Experience in Operational external and internal financial accounting and reporting as well as costing processes is essential;
• Strong technical accounting skills and broad experience in SAP together with excellent communication, collaboration and problems solving skills is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• financial accounting and reporting for African entities;
• Lead and drive the accounting team to achieve period end close processes according to set metrics/timetables, liaising with other functional areas (eg Tax, Treasury, Global Business Services) to ensure timely completion;
• Responsible for review and accuracy of the weekly 4- week cash forecast for cash outflows and sundry/non-trade inflows in respect of African entities;
