The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls (The Academy) is a residential boarding school with just over 300 students enrolled in Grades 8 -12. Grade 12 students write the Independent Examination Board (I.E.B.) NSC Examination.

Specification
- Coordinate initial and periodic medical examinations for learners.
- Provide primary health care for learners on a day-to-day basis, including emergency management and first aid.
- Implement standards, practices, criteria and indicators for quality nursing (quality of practice).
- Practice nursing and health care in accordance with the laws and regulations relevant to nursing and health care.
- Maintain a constructive working relationship with nursing, learners and other stakeholders.
- Treat and monitor injuries that occur at the Academy to learners.
- Treat staff for ad hoc emergencies only.
- Provide periodic health screenings.
- Dispense and control medications as appropriate.
- Make referrals to other medical providers, as appropriate.
- Provide medical support and supervision, as appropriate, at off-campus activities (e.g., sport outings, etc.)
- Maintain strict control of medical stock and equipment.
- Maintain complete health records for learners and prepare reports for trend analysis as appropriate.
Requirements
The purpose of this position is to oversee the medical support of the students through primary healthcare and practice. The Academy is a full boarding facility and the successful candidate will be required to work a 7-day shift and sleep on campus when on duty. The candidate will be provided with a nurse flat as well as three meals by the Academy.
The requirements are as follows:
- Diploma in Nursing
- A Primary Health Care Qualification will serve as an added advantage
- Licensed to dispense medications
- 3- 5 years of experience, preferably working with adolescent youth in a school or private clinic/ hospital or any other related environment.
- Strong management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
