We are currently looking for a solid HR Officer to provide prompt and accurate support to employees and managers with Human Resource related queries. Responsible for management of disciplinary processes conducted in the region, ensuring compliance with the company’s code of conduct and procedures. Strong Industrial Relations and collective labour relations experience, including ability to handle disputes up to arbitration at the CCMA and or bargaining

Duties & Responsibilities

Implementation and management of the HR projects and key priorities

  • Support the HR Manager in rolling out of HR projects and initiatives for the region.
  • Track implementation and take full ownership of HR projects and report accordingly.
  • Identify and recommend new HR initiatives to improve efficiencies to the Head of HR Skills development within the region
  • Participate in skills development initiatives to build capability within the region
  • Identify skills gaps, liaise with training team and Head of HR to implement training initiatives.

 

Resourcing and Talent Management

  • Liaise with resourcing team to ensure vacancies are filled on time, efficiently and effectively
  • Assist as and when required in filling of vacant positions and talent management initiatives
  • Take joint ownership and responsibility on talent management initiatives for the region with the Talent team Effective management of employee relations and engagement
  • Maintain and manage appropriate Industrial Relations environment and sound working relationships with Unions
  • Display a comprehensive understanding of labour legislation and ensure compliance by the division at all levels
  • To support the drive to achieve high level employee engagement in keeping with group objectives strategies and processes
  • Provide guidance and training to Management on IR related processes
  • Monitor and facilitate (where applicable) appeal/grievance hearings and or processes

Risk mitigation and management

  • Identify HR/IR risks, develop management and or mitigation
  • Ensure compliance to all applicable legislation and collective agreements
  • Monitor compliance to all Industrial Relations and HR related policies and processes
  • Custodian of all HR/IR policies and procedures Payroll/Employee benefits
  • Liaise with CAB and payroll teams to ensure all employees are paid on time, correctly and attend to any pay queries.
  • Escalate and keep the HR Manager informed on all pay related issues and recommend any improvement in the process to increase efficiencies in the system Change management
  • Lead change management initiatives within the region with support from relevant teams.

 

Ad hoc

  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
  • Handle confirmation of employment requests
  • Handle employee queries

Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent Interpersonal skills and ability to communicate at all levels
  • A high level of commitment, motivation and initiative
  • Knowledge of payroll / HR systems (Educos/Vision/PRP) would be an advantage
  • Excellent MS Excel Skills
  • Data capturing of large volumes of data
  • Communication Skills
  • Be able to work independently
  • Knowledge/ Experience in HR administration

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor`s Degree qualification in Human Resources/Industrial Psychology or related field
  • 5 years’ experience as an HR Generalist, in a fast paced and labour-intensive sector or environment
  • Strong commercial approach
  • Strong Industrial Relations and Collective Labour Relations experience, including ability to handle disputes up to arbitration at the CCMA and or bargaining council
  • Solid union relationship management experience, knowledge and skills.
  • Strong and proven HR administrative background, including payroll systems & processes knowledge, record management, HR etc
