Sanlam Corporate Cluster comprises of the two existing businesses - Sanlam Employee Benefits (SEB) and Sanlam Health Management (SHM) and the soon to be established Sanlam Corporate Solutions. These businesses enhance our corporate business offering through providing integrated solutions for corporate clients both in South Africa and across the African continent by providing tailored solutions to targeted corporates.  Sanlam Employee Benefits Invetsments (SEBI) provides pre – and post – retirement investment solutions and services to retirement fund clients.  SEBI develops structured investment and annuity solutions and our guaranteed investments provide retirement fund members with smoothed, real returns and capital protection to protect and grow retirement savings.

The overall purpose of the role

Sanlam Corporate offers opportunities to Actuarial Graduates who are looking to start their careers and qualify as Actuaries. The programme starts off with an unofficial ‘internship’ where you will learn about Sanlam’s products and systems. You will be assisted to enhance your analytical abilities in order to develop your actuarial skills.

What will you do?

Key Responsibilities 

• assisting with the analysing of statistical data
• assisting with computer modelling of statistics to determine potential risks
• preparing presentations and reports
• communicating under supervision findings to clients, managers and stakeholders  
• keeping abreast of financial developments in the business world

What will make you successful in this role?

Qualification and Experience

• Degree in Actuarial Science + 6 or more exemptions

Knowledge and Skills

•     excellent numeracy
•     research and analytical ability
•     problem-solving ability
•     a good understanding of economics and of the legislation relating to financial services
•     attention to detail
•     high level of computer literacy, as specialised software may be used
