Fabrication Manager at MECS Africa

Well established Fabrication company in the steel industry is seeking to employ a Fabrication Manager to join their team in Krugersdorp

Key Responsibilities

• Issuing of drawings to boilermakers and ensuring that work is manufactured according to standard/specification.
• Ensuring that work is delivered on time (deadlines are met)
• Measuring performance and output of employees and assigning overtime based on performance.
• Opening up the workshop in the morning and closing it in the evenings.
• Collection and compilation of work hours and submitting them to the HR Manager.
• Dealing with simple labour queries and reporting to the HR Manager regarding these queries.

The ideal candidate will meet the following criterea:

• Qualified boilermaker with relevant trade test certificate.
• Minimum of 15 years’ relevant steel fabrication experience in a workshop environment. Preferably experience in heavy fabrication, mild steel, stainless steel and corrosion protection.
• Minimum of 10 years’ relevant supervisory/foreman experience in a workshop environment.
• Technical knowledge and an ability to read and interpret technical/engineering drawings.
• Ability to teach and instruct individuals and groups and the evaluation of competence.
• Knowledge of steelwork fabrication, production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective fabrication/manufacture of goods.
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their uses, repair and maintenance and the principles involved in production of precision equipment and components.
• Must be able to handle multiple priorities and deadlines and ability to work under pressure.
• Willingness and flexibility to work overtime, on weekends and to travel essential.
• Advantages: experience with material handling equipment, platework, tanks, filter presses, belt filters, pressure vessels, etc.
