purpose
To provide support to the business unit by applying accounting principles in monitoring and analyzing financial data, maintaining accurate records offinancial transactions, and providing accurate accounting information to the business unit to support business decisions.
responsibilities
- Analyze, summarize and account for financial transactions pertaining to a business.
- Ensure costs remain within budget or planned expenditure .
- Provide sound services and recommendations based on customer and client needs, current information andtrends .
- Adhere to financial reporting guidelines set out by FirstRand .

- Maintain accurate records for all financial transactions of the business unit .
- Manage payments and invoicing within agreed timelines .
- Provide accounting information to support business performance .
- Support availability of financial decision-making information by collecting, analysing and reporting financial data .
- Continuously assess own performance, seek timely and clear feedback and request training where appropriate .
- Develop and nurture internal relationships within FNB enabling collaboration .
additional requirements
- Insurance experience is mandatory.
- Advanced Excel is very advantageous (very manual environment)
- Extensive recon experience is advantageous
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or comparable diploma
- 1-2 years’ experience in a similar position The role entails:
- Preparation of income statement and balance sheets for individual underwriters
- Preparation of cashbook journals

- Preparation of reporting packs and schedules for both underwriters as well as statutory reporting
- Reconciling claims clearing accounts and managing the Accounts Receivable ledger thereof
- Performing balance sheet reconciliations
- Preparation of analysis and value add feedback to underwriters
- Analysis and reconciliations of monthly accounts from underwriters
- Preparation of management reports for internal use
- Will be required to form and maintain relationships with underwriters
- Assistance with audits and other adhoc duties as required In accordance with National Credit Act (NCA) candidates applying for this role will require a credit record check.
experience and qualifications
- Minimum qualification: Relevant diploma or undergraduate degree in finance and/or accounting.
- Minimum Experience Required: 0 to 2 years post-qualification experience.
