Assistant Accountant at Thermo Fisher Scientific

As Accountant, you will be a key role player that will have a direct impact on the division’s financial results by supporting the various business units with divisional daily financial operations.

What will you do?

You will collaborate closely with the Financial Controllers as well as Logistics & Customer Service team in South Africa to support the business as a whole.

You will be responsible for:

• Day-to-Day Financial Operations of the Divisions, incl capturing of Bank statements, recording local customer deposits, capturing and paying of Suppler Invoices, capturing Journals etc
• Payments to Foreign suppliers
• Debtor collections
• Fixed Asset maintenance
• Assist the Financial Controllers with month-end closing activities
• Perform monthly account reconciliations

Who we are looking for:(input experience, skills & abilities)

• A finance or business related degree
• Min 5 years of previous experience in similar finance roles
• Comfortable working with SAP, Pastel, Business Intelligence, Excel and the finance system Hyperion / Smart View
• An open minded, dynamic, high-potential and flexible person who enjoys working in an international environment
• Very analytical, deadline driven, solution orientated and have a pragmatic approach to work
• Strong communication skills are essential
• Fluent in English
