Fitter & Turner at RCL Foods

RCL FOODS is seeking a Fitter & Turner to join our Sugar Division. The role will be based in Malelane and report to the Foreman: Electrical & Mechanical. RCL FOODS is looking for an incumbent to render maintenance service on all equipment in the Packaging Plant, to ensure that machines operate at the desired efficiency level and to achieve planned production targets.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Maintenance of machinery and equipment, including stripping, manufacturing spares and assembling of Packaging Machines (Hesser, V.F.F.S. and Fawema machines, Baling Machines, Wrapping equipment).
• Inspection and maintenance of conveying equipment including screws, belt conveyors and bucket elevators.
• Routing and maintaining of Air Piping. Installation and maintenance of Geared-units and gearboxes.

• Maintenance of filters, valves and fans.
• Maintenance on Date Coding Printers.
• Optimize and maintain plant lubrication systems.
• Inspection and maintenance of pressure vessels.
• Carry out detailed daily inspections on mechanical equipment.
• Carry out scheduled and preventative maintenance.
• Off crop planning and maintenance.
• Comply with all safety rules, as per RCL FOODS: Sugar & Milling procedures and OSHA requirements.
• Work with overhead crane, including rigging of heavy equipment.

Minimum Requirements

• Qualified Artisan with at least 5-10 years’ experience in a Production environment
• Experience in a Packaging environment will be advantageous.
• Fawema experience will be advantageous
• Must be prepared to do standby and work overtime as required.
• Must be able to perform tasks individually (on standby).
• Knowledge of Pneumatics.
• Must be able to work in a team environment.
• Must be able to interpret drawings and install equipment as per requirement.
• Must be able to perform RCA and fault finding.
