Deputy Editor - Now Media

We are looking for a junior editor to join one of our highly respected print and online publications. This person would primarily be responsible for handling day-to-day operations as well as writing for the title.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in journalism or a similar field.
• Experience as a journalist.
• Some experience managing content, production and staff.
• Preferably some travel experience.

Skills

• Understand and apply the basic principles of news reporting (networking, initiating own leads and following up stories, accuracy, balanced reporting, meeting deadlines).
• Good general knowledge of print and online publishing and associated tools.
• Strong, dynamic and independent person with a good work ethic and team spirit.
• Experience managing content and staff (commissioning, editing, and driving processes).
• Excellent communication skills.
• Good judgment and problem-solving/decision-making skills.
• Critical thinker.
• Good time management skills.
• Good general knowledge and an understanding of the travel and tourism industries advantageous.
