MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Undertake all maintenance activities in a safe and efficient manner
- Ensure all maintenance activities are performed to set quality standards without rework
- Carry out morning plant inspections
- Fill out all job cards daily and ensure that all other maintenance procedures are followed
- Conduct root cause failure analysis and suggest ways of improving equipment and processes in the department
- Manage health and safety and ensure good housekeeping in and around the plant and workshop
- Maintain high quality standard of work at all times and under pressure
- Quick response to breakdowns as specified in the policy
- Ensure availability of spares and adhere to spares requisition procedures
- Identify critical mechanical spares

- Ensure machines are maintained to OEM standards or better
- Minimize disruption to manufacturing by ensuring equipment’s are in sound mechanical condition
- Training and coaching of apprentices and machine operators
- Adhere to SHER
- Continuous Improvement (Modifications to improve machine performance as and when required)
- Attend and give input on daily engineering meetings
- Perform stand by duties
REQUIREMENTS
FORMAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum N4 Mechanical Engineering certificate or equivalent with Trade Test
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 10 years’ experience post Trade Test Qualification in a printing, paper/plastic converting and packaging industry
KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES
- Able to work under pressure and pay attention to details
- Able to read, interpret and produce a basic standard engineering drawing

- Able to read and understand machine assembly drawings and parts manuals
- Good knowledge and application of ISO standards of measurements and tolerances (Limits and Fits)
- Problem solving skills and good with small components machinery
- Good machining and turning skills and able to reproduce machine parts in standard time
- A self-starter, capable of performing duties at high integrity levels without or with little supervision
- High physical energy levels; comfortable performing repetitive tasks, adapt well to rapid changes in job requirements
- Will have to work at height, high noise, dust and high humidity environment
- Basic computer skills
