The Constitution compels the Department to comply with the following sections in terms of the treatment of offenders: equality, human dignity, freedom, and security.
What is Correctional Services all about?
The purpose of community corrections. To provide services and interventions that will contribute to the reintegration of offenders as law abiding citizens into communities by ensuring that probationers are rehabilitated, monitored and accepted by communities.

Does DCS contract the services of employment agencies to help with the filling of posts?
The department is aware of fraudsters who purport to represent an employment agency, allegedly hired by the department to facilitate the recruitment of prospective learners for the recently advertised Correctional Services Learnership Programme. These fraudsters contact the learnership applicants and inform them that their applications are successful, and then request them to pay R150 for administrative fees through the retail shops’ money market service.
