Job Advert Summary
Servicing, maintaining, overhauling, installation, repairing and modification of all automation control equipment
Primary Duties
- Tuning, optimizing and maintenance of automated control systems
- Support Instrument Artisan during servicing, repairing, maintaining, calibrating, configuring and setting analytical and general industrial instruments.
- PLC maintenance, fault finding and intermediate programming applications
- Field to - PLC to SCADA signal optimizing and troubleshooting.
- Communication protocol (i.e HART, Profibus, Ethernet) troubleshooting, maintenance and problem solving.
- Advise and assist artisans/ operations during maintenance, troubleshooting and plant failure
- Ensure reliability on water quality indication and measurement
- Work with passive control systems such as CCTV, access control configuration and maintenance
- Maintenance on SMART alarm system
- Work in Collaboration with plant operations personnel and other maintenance disciplines.
- Provide accurate feedback on plant status to relevant parties concerned.
- Carry out plant inspections on automation equipment.
- Ensure plant reliability and availability in line with Maintenance Core objectives.
- Compile and submit monthly reports.
- Supervisory capacity when required.

Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (National Senior Certificate)
- National Diploma (N6 or T3, S4) in Electrical (PLC and automation) Engineering.
- 3years’ in the PLC and Automation maintenance improvement environment.
Knowledge
- Competent with AVEVA SCADA and HMI software
- Competent with PLC software i.e Unity, TIA Portal
- Knowledge of communications networks such as Optical fibre systems, Serial communications, Industrial Ethernet, RS232, RS485, Profibus, Modbus and Modbus Plus
- Exposure on Passive System CCTV and access control
- Computer literacy
- Valid driver’s licence with the ability to pass RW K53 test.

- Systematic approach to problem solving.
- Proficiency in the use of instrument loop drawing.
- Ability to read and analyse complex electrical layout drawings and to develop scope of work and specifications.
