Our expertise in infrastructure includes ports, rail and transit, aviation, highways and bridges, planning and advisory services, tunnels, and water. We are looking to building on our success in the realm of coastal engineering and are seeking a highly motivated Senior Coastal Engineer to join the Ports and Terminals team in our Cape Town office.
Our coastal pipeline currently has a diverse mix of coastal structure design, metocean design conditions and inputs for ports projects, dredging, adaptation planning and coastal management support. We are looking for a coastal enthusiast to help us deliver and expand on our current and upcoming opportunities.
As the successful candidate, you will be:

You bring to the role:
- Relevant qualifications e.g. a Master’s in Ports and/or Coastal Engineering or Science
- A commitment to professional development of others and remaining up to date with the latest advancements and guidance in coastal engineering and science
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the planning and design of coastal infrastructure, with 15+ years preferable
- Professional registration with ECSA (or similar international bodies)
- Intricate knowledge of coastal processes modelling (using Delft3D and/or Mike) and oversight of modelling work. Familiarity with relevant international codes and standards in the marine and coastal environment
- Experience in management of data acquisition campaigns, including hydrographic, metocean, meteorological data sets.
- Data analysis and manipulation skills for relevant data sets within the Ports and Coastal field
- Leading coastal design packages within inter-disciplinary project team
- Project management capabilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness to collaborate and work within a team environment
- Project team leadership and resource management skills
- Technical reviews and verification of others’ designs
- A passion and drive to make a real difference
Other Desirable Attributes:
- Physical modelling experience
- Experience in dredging design
- Experience in coastal adaptation planning and design
- Understanding of on site coastal construction
- Track record in project delivery of complex coastal projects
- Business development and networking skills
- Team leadership and resource management experience
