Are you the sort of person who notices when a light bulb flickers before anyone else does? Do you have a knack for keeping things running smoothly—whether it’s a plug, a panel, or a powerhouse of machinery? If so, we’re looking for you to join our team as an Electrical Maintenance Assistant.
This role is all about assisting with the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical equipment in line with Electrical Codes, Standards, and Regulations. You’ll be part of the engine room (sometimes literally) that keeps production humming, warehouses powered, and offices well-lit.
What you’ll be doing (your sparks of brilliance):
Repairs and Maintenance
- Conduct daily maintenance checks in production areas, warehouses and offices.
- Keep things ticking with routine fixes—swapping bulbs, repairing plugs, replacing switches.
- Assist with repairs to motors, transformers, generators, wiring and more.
- Troubleshoot faults, operate electrical testing equipment, and track down gremlins in the system.
- Collect the right materials to get the job done first time.

Installations
- Prepare work areas and assist with wiring domestic and industrial installations.
- Support the building of electrical control panels and distribution boards.
- Help install electrical points, connections, and new machinery.
- Measure, cut, bend and terminate wires like a pro—always to code, always to standard.
- Follow safe working procedures (because we like our people as much as our equipment).
Tools, Equipment and Vehicles
- Keep vehicles clean and ready for the road.
- Ensure tools are well maintained, correctly stored, and in good order.
- Check generators are fuelled and functional.
- Request (or source) consumables needed to keep the lights on.
Hygiene, Housekeeping & Safety
- Follow Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Food Safety Standards (FSSC 22000).
- Spot hazards before they become problems and report them promptly.
- Maintain personal hygiene and keep work areas tidy.
Requirements
What you’ll bring to the role
- Minimum: Grade 12 (NQF Level 4)
- Must-have: Driver’s Licence (Code B)
- Bonus points for: A Working-at-Heights Certificate (because sometimes, the best views are from the top of a ladder).
- Knowledge of various electrical instruments and Electrical Codes, variable speed drives and production machinery
