Afrimat Tygervalley has a vacancy for a Payroll Officer.
Duties and Responsibilities (Not limited to):
- The Payroll Officer will be responsible for the full payroll function for approximately 400 employees on SAGE 300, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely payment.
- The role requires meticulous attention to detail, confidentiality, and strong organisational skills.
- End-to-end processing of monthly payrolls for ±400 staff.
- Capturing and maintaining accurate employee data on the payroll and leave planning systems.
- Verifying and reconciling all payroll information prior to processing.
- Processing salary increases, back pay calculations and termination payments.
- Reviewing timesheets, wage computations, and resolving payroll discrepancies.
- Conducting monthly consolidations, reconciliations and payments to third parties (SARS, pension, medical aid, etc.).
- Preparing and submitting EMP201 reports, mid-year and year-end submissions, and statutory reports.
- Ensuring compliance with tax, labour legislation, and statutory deadlines.
- Preparing and distributing monthly and weekly payroll reports for Finance and People Management.
- Administering annual IRP5/IT3(a) documents for employees.
- Supporting onboarding and offboarding processes with accurate payroll integration.
- Maintaining accurate filing systems for all payroll documentation.
- Providing support for internal and external audits.
- Safeguarding payroll operations by maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Proactively identifying and resolving payroll-related risks or problems.

Minimum Qualifications / Experience:
- Diploma in Payroll, HR or Finance
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in a payroll office.
- Proven work experience as a Payroll Administrator or similar role.
- SAGE 300 payroll experience preferred.
- Experience with Time & Attendance systems (Webregister preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, intermediate to advanced excel.
- Working knowledge of relevant legislation and experience with bargaining units.
- Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Good time management and organizational skills.
- Able to prioritize and multitask effectively.
- Self-disciplined and motivated.
