PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The purpose of an Area Supervisor is to ensure effective management of stock age, monitor breakages and damages, and supervise warehouse operators handling put away, replenishment, and rotation.
They strive to optimise inventory control, maintain product quality, and promote efficient operations within the freezer, chiller, and dry storage areas. By fulfilling these responsibilities, the Area Supervisor contributes to the overall success and performance of the warehouse.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Managing stock age and implementing effective stock rotation practices to ensure proper inventory management and prevent product expiration or obsolescence.
- Monitoring and overseeing breakages and damages within the freezer/chiller, and/or dry storage areas, taking necessary measures to minimise losses and maintain product quality.
- Managing and supervising warehouse operators involved in put away, replenishment, and rotation of stock, ensuring their efficient and effective performance.
- Providing guidance, training, and support to warehouse operators to ensure they adhere to standard operating procedures and safety protocols.
- Monitoring inventory levels and collaborating with other departments to ensure adequate stock availability and minimise stockouts or overstocking.
- Conducting regular inspections of the freezer, chiller, and dry storage areas to ensure cleanliness, proper organisation, and adherence to health and safety regulations.
- Analysing operational data and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to optimise productivity and efficiency.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to coordinate inbound and outbound operations and ensure smooth workflow.
- Providing regular reports and updates to management regarding stock age, breakages, damages, and overall performance within the freezer, chiller, and dry storage areas.
- Establishing and fostering a safe work environment by enforcing PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) usage and overall safety compliance.
Operate within safety standards.
- Managing the team, including organising daily, weekly, and monthly meetings, overseeing time and attendance, planning and managing leave, addressing industrial relations and providing relevant coaching and training.
- Conduct team meetings.
- Monitor and contribute to the overall achievement of the team's goals.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Grade 12 (Matric) certificate or equivalent qualification.
- Proven experience of at least 2 years in a similar position, with a preference for experience within the FMCG Retail industry.
