Job Description
- Responsible for all plant maintenance within the company. Authority to stop a machine in an unsafe condition. Responsibility rests with the incumbent to ensure that the company’s liability is protected in respect of prescribed quality/products/service and safety standards set by the executive.
Job Key Responsibilities
- Maintaining workplace safety standards and a safe working environment, implement and support 5S activities.
- Attend to all mechanical and electrical breakdowns.
- Investigate and analyse cause and effect of breakdown on equipment.
- Carry out necessary activity to repair/resolve breakdown.
- Advise management of electrical and mechanical problems and recommend activities to minimize the number of breakdowns.
- Provide on-line relief and assistance when required.
- Carry out preventative maintenance as scheduled.
- Carry out plant and property maintenance when required.
- Ensure all supporting documentation is completed within the required timeframes and in the format specified.
- Analyse proposed modifications and provide input regards the implementation of ideas.
- Carry out modifications within the required timeframe.
- Actively support and encourage associate involvement in MDW/TIE activities to generate ideas for continuous improvement.
- Promote environmental awareness regarding the potential impact of activities, process and materials utilized
- Perform (and establish where required), the necessary routine testing and inspection to all portable electrical equipment.
- Perform (and establish where required), the necessary routine testing and inspection to all electrical aspects of the plant, machinery and fixed equipment.
- Perform (and establish where required), the necessary routine testing and inspection to all electrical aspects of the building. (DB’s, plug outlets, etc)

Minimum Qualification and Experience
- Trade-tested Millwright/Electrician qualification
- Wireman’s license (Added benefit)
- 5 years of maintenance experience
- Manufacturing Plant Environment experience
- PLC’s Drives, Servo Motors and SCR’s experience and knowledge
- Good knowledge and problem-solving ability for both mechanical and electrical problems
Competencies Required
- Sound technical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills –written and verbal - Maintain and promote two-way communications.
- Must be self-motivated and hardworking and ability to read drawings
- Ability to work precise dimensions and tolerance
