Full Job Description - Read Carefully
Position Purpose:
Manage, control, administer and perform accounting functions that includes cash in functions, petty cash and Fleet Maintenance according to Transnet Academy policies, GAAP, IFRS, PFMA and specific departmental requirements for support and advise to line manager.
Position outputs:
External Clients
- Receive an accepted quote from Line Department for miscellaneous services rendered to external clients.
- Request creation of debtors account.(If not exist)
- Raise debit for work performed.
- Capture against debtors account.
- Reconcile debtors account against the income statement. (Debit raised & deposit received)
- Motivate to write off bad debt if necessary.

Internal Clients (Other Business Units within Transnet)
- Receive accepted quote/annexure C from Line for services rendered
- Raise debit for work performed.
- Reconcile debtors account against the income statement. (Inter-group Account)
- Do open item management
Draw exception reports (age analysis, trail balance and GL control
- Research and correct errors.
- Identify purchase request
- Capture purchase request/reservation
- Arrange for creation of purchase orders
- Do a goods receipt
- Generate reports
- Petty cash control
- Stationery
- Reconciliation of Travel
- Delegation of authority.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Relevant Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related .
- 3 years experience in the related environment.
- Knowledge and experience of a learning and development environment is an advantage
- Requirement of trust and honesty
