Job Advert Summary
To attend to plant defects and scheduled maintenance as required and to ensure that, allocated plant is kept in a safe and reliable standard as required by Rand Water.
Primary Duties
- Carry out installation/assembling of plant equipment by using welding equipment.
- Developing and fabrication of plant equipment using innovative ideas and improved efficiency
- Accurate and versatile in all aspects of welding.
- Developing, profiling, fabrication, assembling and installation of plant and equipment
- Planning of job by ensuring that the correct material is obtained from the Stores
- Measuring and cutting of material to precision measurement using the available plant and equipment.
- Perform standby duties when required
- To work overtime when required
- Complete all schedules, work instructions, time sheets and defects.
- Assist Head Office personnel and contractors for all work done to their jobs effective and safety (i.e. isolate, test, coordinate work, etc.)
- To ensure all safety precautions are followed when working with tools and equipment.
- Housekeeping will be adhered to at all times

Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 or NQF Level 3
- N3 coupled with a recognised trade test. (Welder)
- 4 years’ post-apprenticeship experience in welding field
- Sound mechanical experience for welding purposes
- A valid driver’s licence and ability to pass Rand Water's K53 test.
Knowledge
- Operation of field mechanical equipment
- Water purification and treatment process
- Reliability cantered maintenance
- Knowledge of OHSA Act and its application
- Safety procedures
Skills
- Communication skills (verbal and written)
- Administrative skills
- Analytical skills to do fault finding and problem solving
- Reliability centered maintenance
- Root cause analysis
